AJ Park cleared to buy Baldwins

The Commerce Commission has cleared the merger of intellectual property firms AJ Park and Baldwins. The sale of Baldwins to AJ Park for $7.9 million brings them both under the ownership of ASX-listed IPH. The acquisition sum compares with AJ Park’s $66 million sale to IPH three years ago, although AJ Park had 18 partners and a third of the country’s patent attorneys at the time, versus the four partners at Baldwins.In a statement, Commerce Commission chair Anna Rawlings said the merger would not substantially reduce compet.
