As you walked towards your classroom today and left me behind that small gate where all the parents were waving goodbye, you took a piece of my heart with you.
As I stood there watching you start a new chapter of your life, I had so many feelings at once!
I was happy to be close to you on such an important day.
I was proud to see you so brave and prepared to face all the new adventures that await you at school.
I was amazed to realize how much you grew up and what a wonderful boy you became!
But I was also a little sad to let you go.
Because although I know you are ready for this new start, I’m not sure if I am ready for this. Time went by so quickly, and I know I’ll miss spending more time with you, holding you in my arms at nap time, going to the park together in the mornings, enjoying tons of hugs, smiles, and kisses you offered me every single day.
Even if you are a big boy now, I hope that you will never forget how much I love you.
That you will still have time for hugs in the morning, smiles and giggles at the dinner table, and long conversations at bedtime.
That you will always remember that you have all my support, no matter what.
On this special day in your life, I wish that your school years will be filled with joy, friendships, and amazing experiences! I wish that you will be surrounded by fun and kind classmates and inspiring teachers. I wish that you will go every day to school feeling happy to spend time with your friends and excited to learn new things.
And if things ever get hard, I will always be there for you, ready to help you overcome any challenge you might face along the way.
Today, on your first day of school, I want you to know how proud I am of you!
You are brave and smart. You are kind and strong. You are amazing. And I feel so lucky that you are my child!
This day is a new beginning for both of us, and I’m looking forward to starting this journey with you! And every single day as I will watch you walking towards your classroom from behind that small gate, a piece of my heart will go with you.
